VA Funding Proposed by Yarmuth Passes in House
By Trey Pollard
Funding for a new VA hospital in Louisville initially proposed by U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) has cleared another hurdle today, as the bill in which it is contained was approved by the full U.S. House.
"Louisville's veterans deserve the best care possible, and now we know they will get it," Congressman Yarmuth said. "This is a huge victory for our medical community and each of the more than 100,000 veterans that live in and around Louisville."
Earlier this year, Yarmuth requested that $45 million be added into the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill for the new hospital. Yarmuth's office notes the project is the only one not requested by President Bush to have funding approved.
The funding must now be approved in the U.S. Senate, but there are already signs it could progress through that chamber.
