Yarmuth Files to Run for Third Term

Congressman has raised more than $660,000 going into election year

(Frankfort, KY) Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3), today, filed paperwork with the Secretary of State’s office, officially kicking off his bid to continue representing Louisville in the US House of Representatives.

“These past three years, I have had the great honor of taking Louisville’s fight to Congress, and I hope to keep fighting to bring our community good jobs, affordable health care, and better educational opportunities,” Congressman Yarmuth said. “I look forward to continuing to work with my partners here at home to build a more secure nation and a thriving Louisville that we can continue to be proud of.”

During the current Congress, Yarmuth was a major proponent of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which gave tax-cuts to 95 percent of Americans, ensured jobs for 3.5 million Americans, and delivered more than $160 million to Louisville. As a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, he helped craft the health care reform bill, which will end insurance practices that discriminate against pre-existing conditions, lower premiums for millions of middle class families, offer assistance to small businesses, and insure more than 25 million currently uninsured Americans.

This campaign will be Yarmuth’s third for the Third District seat after winning a three-point upset in 2006 and a 19-point rematch in 2008. Yarmuth has raised over $660,000 so far for the 2010 election cycle.
