Congressman has more than $400,000 on hand as he begins fundraising efforts for re-election campaign

(Louisville, KY) The inaugural fundraiser for Congressman John Yarmuth’s (KY-3) 2012 re-election campaign raised more than $150,000, surpassing any event the Congressman held in his previous three campaigns.

“I intend to continue tackling Washington dysfunction and getting results for Louisville families,” Congressman Yarmuth said.“This record-breaking start gives us the resources and momentum we need to run another successful race. I am grateful for this support and will fight to bring the American Dream back within the reach of every Louisvillian with the ability and determination to work for it.

The event brings Yarmuth’s total cash on hand to more than $400,000 heading into 2012.

(Louisville, KY)  Today, the Veterans of Foreign Wars PAC announced its endorsement of Congressman John Yarmuth in the race for Kentucky’s 3^rd Congressional District.  According to the VFW PAC this endorsement “is based on Congressman Yarmuth’s legislative record of strong support for veterans, national security and defense, and military personnel issues.”

Congressman has raised more than $660,000 going into election year

(Washington, D.C.) Last Thursday, the House of Representatives passed the landmark Higher Education Opportunity Act, reauthorizing and expanding the Higher Education Act, which expired in 2003 and is the primary law aimed at expanding college access for low- and middle-income students.

The American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act, which passed the House last night, will help families keep their homes, aid local communities hit hard by the foreclosure crisis and strengthen the economy and financial markets.

Washington, DC) Today, the House of Representatives will consider the Drill Responsibly in Leased Lands (DRILL) Act, which would compel the oil companies to drill on the 68 million acres they already control.
